HIV/AIDS

ECNGOC is involved in the Eastern Cape Aids Council and other forums that work to end the spread of HIV.
ECNGOC projects under its HIV/AIDS Socio-Economic Transformation (SET) Programme work predominantly with women and youth representatives who are working in HIV and AIDS support and prevention. The Women and Youth Support Group for HIV and AIDS comprises around 25 NGO and CBO representatives. ECNGOC works with these representatives as they strive to address HIV and AIDS issues in individual communities in two districts: Alfred Nzo and Amathole. One aim is to increase the groups’ involvement with government and national structures on issues of HIV and AIDS

The groups coordinate awareness-raising activities around 16 Days of Activism and at other times during the year. Through their involvement in the ECNOGC, groups claim they have increased their knowledge and confidence in advocating around HIV and AIDS issues.
